Hadley's Family Butchers, the oldest commercial premises on Royston Vasey High Street, unveiled its spring window display on Monday. Proprietor Donal Hadley, the fifth generation of the family in the trade, has confirmed the display 'tells a story', though declined to specify which.
The display features what observers have variously described as 'a tableau', 'a diorama', and 'something I am not prepared to discuss in front of my mother'. Mr Hadley has stated that all ingredients are 'sourced locally' and 'used in their entirety'.
The famous Hadley's 'special stuff' — sold from the back counter to a small number of regular customers, by appointment only, on a payment-in-cash basis — will continue to be available 'as supply allows'. Mr Hadley has asked that no further enquiries be made about the nature, origin, or composition of the special stuff.
The window display will be refreshed monthly. May's display, Mr Hadley confirms, will be 'a little more accessible'.
