Council Bulletin: April Sittings — 'Largely Calm'

Three motions tabled. Two passed. One withdrawn after the Chair was reminded of the relevant by-laws.

The Parish Council met in extraordinary session on Wednesday evening to consider three motions of varying urgency. The Chair, Mr Lethbridge, presided in his usual manner, which is to say with a small bell and a great deal of patience.

Motion 1, that the village pond be reclassified as a 'water feature' for insurance purposes, passed unanimously. The Clerk noted that this would not affect the pond, its inhabitants, or any of the ongoing investigations.

Motion 2, that Mrs Cobbleby be removed from the Allotment Sub-Committee following 'the incident with the leek', was carried by seven votes to five with one abstention. Mrs Cobbleby was not present. The leek has been retained as evidence.

Motion 3, that the village adopt 'Royston Vasey: A Beacon of Quiet Determination' as its new motto, was withdrawn after the Chair was reminded, with regret, that the previous motto remains in force pending appeal.

The next sitting will be in May, unless circumstances require otherwise.
