Royston Vasey C of E Primary School held its Spring Fete on Saturday afternoon on the school playing field. The event was attended by 142 parents, 87 children, and a number of locals who appear to have been displaced from a nearby allotment dispute.

Stalls included a tombola (sold out by 14:00), a coconut shy (no coconuts; substituted with small marrows), a bake sale (raising £92.40 before a small but significant incident involving the lemon drizzle), and the now-traditional Guess the Weight of the Vicar.

Three matters were logged with the PTA Chair: (1) the bouncy castle, which deflated abruptly at 15:12 while occupied; (2) the second-hand book stall, which was found to be 'almost entirely the same books as last year, but stickier'; and (3) a complaint about the face-painting, which was unable to remove the face paint of a six-year-old until Wednesday.

Total raised: £237.40, which will go towards refurbishment of the school's reading corner, an area described in the most recent Ofsted report as 'concerning for several different reasons'.
